Kenner-Palitoy Sticker Matrix

This is a matrix of 7 Kenner card variations as defined on 12back.com which have black and white Palitoy stickers applied over the USA postal addresses on the back of the card with an address to Coalville in the UK. These cards were sold in the UK when Palitoy versions weren’t available. A lot of Kenner cards were also sold in the UK without the need for Palitoy stickers as there were no special offers on the back of the card. These card variations are prefixed with KPS for Kenner Palitoy Sticker and then have the Kenner card variation as defined on 12back.com afterwards. The KPS prefix is so they stand out from the unprefixed Palitoy ones.

ESB KPS45A

The KPS45A is the first Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is the Star Wars Action Figure Display Arena. The sticker is shown enlarged below.

This is the rarest of the Palitoy stickers seen on Kenner cards, with only a couple of examples reported.

ESB KPS47A

The KPS47A is the second Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is for a new 4-Lom Action Figure. The sticker is shown enlarged below.

These Palitoy stickers can be found on at least 12 different figures on Kenner cards.

ESB KPS48B

The KPS48B is the third Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is for a Free Admiral Ackbar. The Palitoy sticker is applied over the top of the existing Kenner sticker giving a double sticker on the back of the card. The Palitoy sticker is shown enlarged below.

These double Kenner and Palitoy stickers have only been found on 4 different figures on Kenner cards.

ESB KPS48C

The KPS48C is the fourth Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is for a Free Admiral Ackbar. This sticker is the same one as is on the KPS48B. The sticker is shown enlarged below.

These Palitoy stickers have been found on at least 7 different figures on Kenner cards.

ROTJ KPS48D

The KPS48D is the fifth Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is for a Free Nien Nunb. The sticker is white and in a larger font and has round edges unlike the black Palitoy stickers used on previous Kenner card variations. The sticker is shown enlarged below.

These Palitoy stickers have been found on at least 4 different figures on Kenner cards.
 
The text at the top of the back of the card says ‘STAR WARS’ on the first line, and then ‘ACTION FIGURES Collect all 48!’ on the second line.

The POP (Proof of Purchase) on the back of the card has the factory code HT next to it, showing that the card was made in the Unitoy factory in Hong Kong.

ROTJ KPS48E

The KPS48E is the sixth Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is for a Free Nien Nunb. The sticker is the same one as is on the KPS48D. The sticker is shown enlarged below.
 
These Palitoy stickers are the most common and have been found on at least 13 different figures on Kenner cards.
 
The text at the top of the back of the card says ‘STAR WARS Action Figures’ on the first line, and then ‘Collect all 48!’ on the second line. This is different to the previous Kenner variation KPS48D which says ‘STAR WARS’ on the first line and ‘ACTION FIGURES Collect all 48!’ on the second line.

The POP (Proof of Purchase) on the back of the card has the factory code HN next to it, showing that the card was made in the Smile factory in Hong Kong.

There is also a sub variation of this card with the following minor differences.
 
The first difference is the punch next to the 2 lines of text at the top of the back of the card has no perforation compared to the perforated punch shown above.
The second difference is the POP (Proof of Purchase) on the back of the card has no factory code next to compared to the HN factory code shown above.

This card variation can also be found with a white wraparound Clipper sticker applied over the top of the white Palitoy sticker giving another double sticker example.

ROTJ KPS48F

The KPS48F is the seventh and final Kenner card variation which features a Palitoy sticker on the back of the card. These stickers replaced the USA address for redeeming special offer mail aways on a variety of the Kenner cards from the ESB and ROTJ line with one for Coalville in the UK. The special offer in this instance is for a Free Nien Nunb. This sticker is the same one as is on the KPS48D. The sticker is shown enlarged below.

This Palitoy sticker has been found on only 2 figures on Kenner cards so far for this card variation.
 
The text at the top of the back of the card says ‘STAR WARS’ on the first line, and then ‘ACTION FIGURES’ on the second line. There is then an extra third line that says ‘Collect all 48!’.

The POP (Proof of Purchase) on the back of the card has the factory code HG next to it, showing that the card was made in the Kader factory in Hong Kong.
